The only sure fix for ground loop hum is transformer isolation of the different bits of gear you're hooking together. I don't think you mean this, but if anyone thought the Ground switch will help defeat ground loop hum. The term "Death Cap" sounds scary, but it does serve a (sometimes unnecessary) function, and can be implemented safely. Guess whoever wired up that venue wasn't as careful with their outlets.
